Profitability Boot Camp Seminar at IFTD show

The American Fly Fishing Trade Association has developed a new and different seminar for the fly shop retailer at this year’s International Fly Tackle Dealer show.

We are excited to announce the opportunity for retailers to attend a comprehensive, full day seminar that will provide hands on instruction in the art of profitably operating a retail fly-fishing shop.  During the seminar, you have the opportunity to learn and master the fundamental components of profitability including sales, margins, expenses, and inventory velocity. From this seminar, retailers have the opportunity to emerge with a net full of ideas, concepts, skills, best practices, and a road map for achieving improved profits.

Robbie Brown, who has extensive background in retailing, wholesaling, distribution, customer service, and business consulting, will teach the seminar.  Robbie currently consults for businesses of all types in the merchandise, professional and service industries.  He is the principal of R.L. Brown & Associates, a Chicago based consulting firm serving a variety of industries in the areas of company valuations and acquisitions, marketing strategies, business profitability, inventory management, expense reduction, systems selection, and implementation and strategic planning.    He also consults for a variety of corporations, industry groups and trade associations, and is a frequent round table moderator and speaker before corporate groups.  Robbie has owned and operated a sizeable chain of sporting goods stores, five Honda franchises, a swimming pool park, an automobile agency, and an advertising agency.  With over 25 years of retailing, wholesale, and consulting experience, Robbie has guided businesses large and small through a myriad of challenging business problems and has published over 250 business articles in national and international trade magazines.

The seminar will be on Wednesday, September 8 in the Colorado Convention Center.  Some of the topics covered will be:
